Enabling children and young people to improve their wellbeing and make a successful transition into adulthood
The Prout Bridge Project provides targeted youth support to children and young people and is run under the umbrella of Beaminster Youth Club. It is a referral-based service providing support to young people by professionally qualified and highly experienced youth workers. This involves one-to-one and group work with children and young people, to address a range of issues to help them increase emotional resilience. Youth Workers will offer support, giving them the opportunity to be listened to, challenged and advocated for, so that they can recognize and manage their emotions, enabling them to make improvements in their lives.
Issues we can support with include:
Understanding feelings, emotions and associated behaviours
Support to develop positive coping strategies around e.g low level self-harm, anxiety, poor emotional resilience, bereavement, family breakdown, impact of parent/carer’s mental health or drug/alcohol misuse
Social and peer relationships
Risk of homelessness
Personal safety e.g. exploitation, sexual exploitation, online safety,
Heathy relationships and risk-taking behaviour
Personal and social development (including life skills, learning & work)
Support to build resilience and decision-making skills which contribute to their wellbeing
How Can I access these services? Making a referral to one of our services is straightforward. You can refer yourself or someone else by simply phoning us, emailing or visiting us. We can also accept self-referrals, for people aged 13 and above, via our website where you can also access a paper copy of the referral form. If you’d like help deciding whether a referral is needed, please speak to one of our Youth Workers and they will be happy to assist you. If you are considering referring someone else, it’s important that you have their consent, as we cannot accept referrals without this. We can support this decision by providing young people with more information on what to expect and their various options, but ultimately the decision is theirs to make.
